"We became guardianship attorneys because of someone we love."
We help Miami families protect their loved ones with special needs through guardianship, estate planning, and probate. Our practice is built on lived experience — and a commitment to every family we serve.
Who We Help
Families of Special Needs Adults
When your child turns 18, Florida law no longer gives you automatic authority to make medical or financial decisions on their behalf. We help families establish guardianship or less-restrictive alternatives before that moment arrives — without a crisis.
Individuals Planning Their Estate
A properly drafted Florida estate plan goes beyond a will. We help clients of all ages build plans that protect their families, preserve their assets, and reflect their values — including Catholic planning principles.
Families Navigating Probate
When a loved one passes, the probate process in Miami-Dade County can feel overwhelming. We guide families through formal and summary administration efficiently, so they can focus on what matters.

Why We Do This Work
My godson changed everything.
Carlos C. Aguila grew up watching his godson — an autistic family member — navigate a world that wasn't designed for him. He witnessed the fear parents feel when a child approaches adulthood and the legal protections they've relied on begin to fall away. That experience shaped every aspect of how Aguila Law practices.
His wife Monica, a licensed speech pathologist, works alongside him at the firm. Together they bring a perspective no other Miami guardianship practice can offer: the lived experience of a family that has been exactly where their clients are.
"We don't just understand the law. We understand the weight of the decision."

What Families Say
"I would like to share my personal experience with the Aguila Law firm in obtaining Guardianship Advocacy for my adult son. The process began with an online educational series with Carlos C. Aguila explaining the definitions of Guardianship versus Guardianship Advocacy with a focus on the rational and steps required for the advocacy designation. His staff was kind and responded quickly to any of my inquiries. I felt supported throughout this process as a single mother knowing Carlos would go to court on my behalf. The day I received the news from Carlos that I am now my son's legal guardian advocate was one of relief and joy. I highly recommend the Aguila Law firm for anyone who is interested in this type of legal counsel for their loved ones."
"We had an excellent experience with Aguila Law Firm for our estate planning and special needs trust. Carlos Aguila and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring throughout the entire process. As parents planning for the future of a child with special needs, finding the right legal guidance was critical, and they took the time to understand our family's situation and explain everything clearly. Their attention to detail and thoughtful approach gave us real peace of mind. Highly recommended."
"Aguila Law had a quick response when I unexpectedly lost access to my daughter's medical records. I had no idea that the pharmacy and doctor's portals would automatically lock me out at midnight on her 18th birthday. I contacted Aguila Law. They started the guardianship process right away and provided a letter that restored my access to her medical portals. Their knowledge, efficiency, and care made all the difference during a very stressful moment. I'm so grateful to have found Aguila Law when I did — they understood exactly what was happening and knew how to help."
"I recently worked with Aguila Law for a guardianship case for my daughter, and I couldn't be more impressed with their exceptional service. From start to finish, Carlos and Monica were amazing to deal with — professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. They made the entire process seamless, ensuring that I felt supported and well-informed at every step. Aguila Law truly goes above and beyond for their clients. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of legal services."
