Summary Administration in Florida

Summary administration is a simplified Florida probate process available when the estate's probate assets are valued at $75,000 or less, or when the decedent has been dead for more than two years. It involves filing a single petition and order rather than the full formal administration process.

Summary administration typically takes four to eight weeks from filing to completion — significantly faster than formal administration, which takes six to twelve months or more. There is no appointment of a personal representative, no Notice to Creditors publication, and no extended court supervision.

Summary administration is appropriate for smaller or older estates where the simplified process can be used. For larger or more complex estates, formal administration is required.

Aguila Law guides Miami-Dade County families through the summary administration process efficiently, preparing and filing the required petition and securing the court order that transfers assets to beneficiaries.
